Iga Świątek has had a really intense period, and this is not the end of her tennis struggles. After winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games, she only had a short break. Recently, she took part in the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Cincinnati, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka.
After the match, she did not hide her disappointment. The WTA ranking leader says directly that there are too many tournaments in such a short period.
It’s not our decision, but in my opinion we have too many tournaments during the year. It won’t end well! It makes tennis less enjoyable. I love playing in all these places, but it’s quite tiring, especially when you play at the highest level. It shouldn’t be like this, we deserve more rest,” Iga told Sky Sport.

She also elaborated on the topic in an interview with Tennis Channel, where she said that she “feels like a hamster on a wheel.”
However, quite critical comments have appeared online after the Polish woman’s words. Internet users write that Iga is “another tennis player complaining about having to play tennis, and the schedule hasn’t changed since the 80s.”
Her defense was supported by, among others, legendary tennis player Chris Evert, who, unlike critics, “understands Iga’s concerns.”
“People don’t understand that there’s a lot more ‘depth’ than in the ’80s! I played then! Now players have to give it their all in the first round; we didn’t do that,” the tennis player admitted.
