27-year-old Daria Kasatkina (9th WTA) played only one match as a reserve in the prestigious WTA Finals tournament with the participation of eight of the best players this year. The Russian lost to the vice-leader of the world ranking Iga Świątek 1:6, 0:6 in just 53 minutes. For Kasatkina, it was the fifth defeat in the fifth clash with the Pole. In none of them did she win even a set and never won more than five games.

– I’m not ready mentally and I’ve already been on vacation. I’ve been exercising, but with mental relaxation – added the Russian, resting her hands sadly on the table.
After a moment, she was in a better mood. “It’s also funny that this match won’t decide anything for me. I have no chance of getting out of the group. It’s just a match for points and money. Do I have to prepare now? Look, mom didn’t come for nothing,” Kasatkina admitted.

Kasatkina has reached the finals of six tournaments this season – in Adelaide, Abu Dhabi, Charleston, Eastbourne, Seoul and Ningbo. However, she has only won in Eastbourne and Ningbo.
