Iga Świątek won the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide in spectacular style. She didn’t lose even a set, and in the final, the Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencić was the background for the excellently playing Pole.
On Saturday, Iga Świątek played in her third main series final. In Lugano (2019), she lost to Slovenian Polona Hercog. Last season, she won a spectacular victory over Sofia Kenin at Roland Garros in Paris.
The Pole’s rival in the fight for the second title was Belinda Bencić, a semi-finalist of the US Open 2019 and the former fourth racket in the world. Świątek became the champion, defeating the Swiss 6:2, 6:2
In previous rounds, Świątek did not concede a set to the Americans Madison Brengle and Danielle Collins, the Australian Maddison Inglis and the Swiss Jil Teichmann. Bencic played one less match because she had a bye. She conceded a total of 10 games to the Japanese Misaki Doi and the hosts’ representative Storm Sanders. She eliminated the American Cori Gauff after a three-set marathon, although she had a match point in the second set.
