Simona Halep, the best ranked player from Romania, 17th WTA, will play in the second round at Indian Wells against the winner of the match Marta Kostyuk – Shuai Zhang.
At one of the training sessions in the USA, Constanta surprised the fans in the stands with a spectacular shot – a volley between the legs, and then won the point.
“I found Simo in training again, and she manages this volley” , was the reaction of the fan who posted the clip on Twitter.
For our champion, this will be the first tournament after parting with Darren Cahill. Simona now has two Romanian coaches, Daniel Dobre and Adrian Marcu, but only the last one made the trip to America.
What route does Simona Halep have at Indian Wells
Halep has a tough schedule at Indian Wells. Qualified directly in the second round, “Simo” will meet the winner of the match Marta Kostyuk – Shai Zhang .
Then, for Simona Halep, number 11 seed at Indian Wells, a possible duel with Emma Răducanu would follow,  in the 3rd round. The US Open winner  also enters the competition in the 2nd round, when she will meet the winner of the Serrano Osorio confrontation – Aleksandra Sasnovich.
If she gets past Emma Răducanu, Simona Halep will reach the round of 16, where she can face Petra Kvitova or Viktoria Azarenka. In the quarters, our athlete can meet opponents such as Elise Mertens, Jessica Pegula or Elina Svitolina.
Belinda Bencic, Leylah Fernandez or Iga Swiatek are among the possible opponents in the penultimate act. In the final, Simona Halep could meet one of the favorites from the other side of the table: Karolina Pliskova, Maria Sakkari, Barbora Krejcikova and Garbine Muguruza.
