Simona Halep will support a junior ice hockey team that will bear her name

Several selections for children took place at this rink, after which two teams were formed for the time being, supported by sponsors. In the near future two or three more teams will be created, one of which will be supported by the Romanian tennis player. “I am proud and happy that after not even a year we have these kids on the ice doing 4-5 practices a week. I saw them now and was amazed. You can see that these kids have a future in hockey. There are two teams and we will do more. These teams are supported by sponsors. And for a reason that I did not understand, Simona Halep wants her hockey team. And these sponsors pay for the maintenance of this rink. Equipping a whole team does not cost you more than 10,000 euros, including skates, defenders, sticks and so on. I don’t know how to kiss the hands of these sponsors, because this ice rink costs somewhere between 6-700,000 euros per year”, mentioned Țiriac.
Former hockey and tennis player, Ion Țiriac mentioned that he wants to build a university with a campus that would include several sports arenas, fields and pools in Otopeni, near the ice rink. He mentioned that he is providing 100 million euros and the land for this project, but he wants the state to get involved and invest “a sum of 150-200 million euros”.
Eduard Pană thanked Simona Halep “This rink cost 3.5 million euros with parking and everything, but without the land, which was mine. But the state has the land to do what it wants. So it is possible. The problem is that public-private association law, which must be made. But now we need to talk about the famous ‘camp’, about the university that my family and I want to do here. We put our money aside, we put the land aside, we still need a 150-200 million euro fund (no — from the state). That we put our hundred million, but the country, the Government, must also come along, because the university remains here. And then we make a camp just like in the United States, because in Europe there are very few. A field with an ice rink, with an Olympic pool, with a stadium, with an athletics track, with a 3,500-seat hall, with a shooting range, with 10 basketball courts, with 12 volleyball courts, with 30 tennis courts, 7 of which are covered, with dormitory for 60 places for tennis. If I have a bit of success in Brussels, because I will personally go there, then in three years the university will be here”, added Țiriac.
