Andy Murray has admitted that he doesn’t miss playing tennis despite getting back on the circuit so soon after retiring
Months after he ended his career at the Paris Olympics, Murray started coaching his old rival Novak Djokovic.
While he’s happy to sit on the sidelines and analyse, the Brit has no “desire” to play and made a heartbreaking confession that he could no longer even serve.
Murray officially retired at last year’s Olympic Games, entering the men’s doubles event with Dan Evans, where they reached the quarter-final before crashing out. The former No. 1 seemed keen on taking time away from tennis and working on his golf.
But less than four months later, he announced that he would coach Djokovic during the off-season and Australian Open. Murray was seen in the Serb’s box in Melbourne and even got on the court for an exhibition match with Djokovic.
While the tennis world was delighted to see Murray competing in a light-hearted set of mixed doubles, the three-time Major winner has now admitted he doesn’t miss playing at all.
“I’ve got to go a few things that I’d kind of always wanted to since I finished playing,” Murray said on Chris Hoy’s Sporting Misadventures podcast.
“And yeah, I really enjoyed that side of it. And that’s helped me. I really have not missed playing at all.
