The “Middle East Swing” is about to start, a series of tennis tournaments in the Middle East. It is already known that Iga Świątek will first take part in the tournament in Doha (starting on February 9), and then in Dubai (from February 16). The start lists for both events are practically full of great names: Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Jelena Rybakina and others. Now, however, important news about withdrawals has appeared.
Danielle Collins has a decision! It’s certain, she’s resigning
In both Doha and Dubai, fans will not see Danielle Collins, who has been causing a lot of emotions lately. This is now officially confirmed by the WTA. “Former Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins has withdrawn from both Doha and Dubai due to a chronic foot injury,” we read in a statement on wtatennis.com. However, this is not the only withdrawal.
Madison Keys also made a similar decision, as we wrote earlier . “Newly-crowned Australian Open champion Madison Keys has withdrawn from Doha due to a hamstring injury, although the American remains on the list for Dubai,” the WTA added in its official statement.
It is worth noting that another big name will be missing from the Middle East Swing. It is Naomi Osaka. The Japanese player withdrew from the reserve list of the tournament in Doha and at the same time… did not even register for the same list before the competition in Dubai. This means that these three names: Collins, Keys and Osaka, for now, fans will not see on the court.
