The 2025 Australian Open has crowned its champion, and that champion is Jannik Sinner. The Italian tennis sensation triumphed in the final against Alexander Zverev, once again demonstrating why he is a favorite in online betting and one of the most dominant players on the circuit. His victory not only awarded him a new trophy and international prestige but also a substantial monetary prize reflecting the tournament’s economic growth.

While this amount is impressive, the Australian Open, alongside the French Open, offers the lowest prizes for its champions. In comparison, Wimbledon awards €3.2 million, while the US Open surpasses that with €3.4 million.
Alexander Zverev, the tournament’s runner-up, also walked away with a notable reward of €1,144,000, a sum that reflects the high level of competition.
The same can be said for the women’s event, where champion Madison Keys received exactly the same amount as Sinner. Finalist Aryna Sabalenka took home the same prize as Zverev, as the Australian Open maintains equality in prize distribution between male and female competitors.
This financial distribution is not limited to the finalists; for instance, semi-finalists received €661,000, while those reaching the quarter-finals earned €399,959.
Players reaching the round of 16 walked away with €252,605, and those who made it to the third round gained €174,418.
Over the years, Grand Slam events have increased their prize money in a bid to enhance players’ earnings and maintain competitiveness with other tournaments. However, the gap between the Australian Open and its more lucrative counterparts remains significant, particularly when compared to Wimbledon and the US Open, which lead the way in this regard.
With his third Grand Slam title in just a year, Sinner continues to establish himself as one of the big names on the circuit, a status that further enhances his favoritism in upcoming tournaments. Moreover, his victory has earned him 2,000 points in the Race 2025, nearly guaranteeing his spot in the ATP Finals in Turin.
