Simona Halep (30 years old) participated in the Sport Festival , an event that included, among other things, the official retirement of Horia Tecau (37 years old).
Simona Halep spoke about one of her biggest career regrets: “It’s a little too late”
Simona came with her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, directly from France, where she is intensively preparing for the next duels she will take part in. Until then, Halep was present at Horia Tecau’s special event, and at the end of the celebration, the former world leader revealed what is one of his biggest regrets in his professional career.
“It was a special event. I am very glad that I came and was with Horia in, perhaps, his most emotional moment. Of course I had emotions and I thought that my moment would follow in a few years. I’m glad that Horia made this decision being happy and at peace.
He enjoyed himself to the fullest and was happy to have his friends with him. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to the Olympics to play with him. I want to play, but I don’t think I can convince him anymore… it’s a little too late (no laughs)”, said Simona Halep, according to Pro Arena.
Halep: “I don’t want to put pressure on myself, I just want to progress”
In a press conference, Simona spoke about her goals this season. The Romanian athlete’s big dream is to win another Grand Slam trophy, after Roland Garros 2018 and Wimbledon 2019.
“It’s a time of change for me. I feel like I’m much more experienced and I’m making much better decisions. I’m happy for everything that’s happening in my life and I’m very excited. I hope it’s good.
That’s what I want (no – to win another Grand Slam title) , I’m working for it and I hope to succeed. I don’t know if I’m as strong right now. I don’t want to put pressure on myself for results, I just want to progress as much as possible.
I want to reach my best level, even more than what I had. I’m working for it and I want to win another Grand Slam, but we’ll see that in time” , said Simona Halep, during a press conference.
