An ardent Simona Halep fan claims our great champion saved her life. He wished to remain anonymous, but he mustered up the courage to post his story on Instagram and highlight the role he says Simona Halep played in his recovery, given that she suffers from severe depression.
His story was picked up by the WTA Romania account.
A fan claims that Simona Halep saved his life
“It’s time to get emotional. Being even a tiny dot in Simona Halep’s mind, through WTA Romania, means so much to me. She will never know how much she means to me or how she simply saved my life , just because she is a happy and kind person.
The mere fact that she knows I exist is amazing. Yes, she’s just a tennis player and I’m just a fan. But her happiness and the impressive results she achieved helped me a lot.
Watching her and the other Romanians helped me with my depression. I truly believe that she is a big reason why I am still here today. I have survived 3 suicide attempts over the years.
I suffer from very severe depression and social anxiety. But one of the things I use to try to get out of these dark times is to watch Simona.
Her happiness and positivity in general is an inspiration. I have pictures of her on the walls of my house, of the tournaments and Grand Slams she won and the fun of her training.
Not just because I’m a fan, but because I like to look at them, to have something beautiful and happy to look at when I’m at my worst. So for her, a very famous athlete, to pay any attention to something that I put so much love and time into, means a lot.
I’m not doing it to get your attention, it’s just icing on the cake. I do it because it makes me happy and I think she can tell and appreciate that ,” that fan wrote, and the people from WTA Romania made the story public.

Life is a gift so make the most of it no matter what happens. As I always say, never give up!” , was Simona’s emotional response.
