Simona Halep (30 years old, 20th place WTA) is preparing in Romania for the start of the 2022 season. Today, the athlete from Constanța trained with children, at the initiative of the Romanian Olympic Foundation.

The little tennis players, aged between 5 and 10, visited Simona Halep at the National Tennis Center. Simona revealed some of the elements of her training and took the opportunity to take over the role of trainer for a few minutes.
“It gives me great pleasure to answer the curious questions from the little tennis players. Their dynamism and desire to learn and evolve is amazing. I promised to be by their side with advice and guidance on other occasions as well. I trust that the new generation will bring more and more young representatives of Romania to the tennis courts and to the competition” , declared Simona Halep.
The children took advantage of the opportunity to receive their personalized Christmas gifts with Simona Halep’s signature: t-shirts, rackets and pictures with the champion.
“It was the most beautiful holiday gift for the children of the FOR group. Their meeting with Simona was marked by emotion and delight. We thank her for the attention and patience given to the little practitioners” , added Cosmin GheÅ£u, coach of the juniors from the Romanian Olympic Foundation .
The children’s team benefits from training and sports facilities provided by the Romanian Olympic Foundation and the “Ion Å¢iriac” Sports Complex from Bucharest.
2021, the year of negative awards for Simona Halep
Simona Halep’s record in 2021: 25 wins, 10 losses. He played a WTA final in Cluj-Napoca. He reached the quarters at the Australian Open and the round of 16 at the US Open.
Simona Halep has been affected by injuries this year: to the right shoulder (Miami, March), to the left calf (Rome, May) and to the adductor muscles of the right thigh (Cincinnati, August).
Simona Halep started 2021 on the 2nd place in the WTA. The Romanian left the WTA Top 10 for the first time in seven and a half years (since February 2014) and missed qualifying for the Tournament of Champions, for the first time since 2014.
