Iga Świątek is in Poland playing at the BNP Paribas Warsaw Open. In her first match she defeated Nigina Abduraimova from Uzbekistan, who did not give up without a fight.
After the match, she admitted that she feels more stressed when there are fans in Poland. “I’ve always wanted to show good tennis in Poland, so that the fans have something to watch. So the demands are higher. I have to go back to the basics and to what has always worked,” she said.
In an interview with “Rzeczpospolita” she revealed that her decision was dictated by her concern for being in optimal shape. Świątek’s family home is not far from Warsaw, so she could return there after each match. It turns out that just before the tournament, the tennis player decided to spend the night in one of the capital’s hotels.

“I only moved into the hotel the day before the tournament. So we spent some time together, although obviously I always have other duties when I come back home. That’s the second part of my job. It’s more like my dad, who organizes the tournament, had a little less time for me because of that,” shesays.
In the break between Wimbledon and the tournament in Poland, she managed to relax a bit at home. The decision to move out was dictated by concern for fitness – this is how Świątek tries to maintain her tournament routine. “When I come home, I always feel like there’s something to do, and I’m such an active person that sometimes I have to force myself to rest,” she explains.
Świątek did the same a year ago. At that time, she was staying at the Regent Hotel. “Football players do the same. My team is there with me. It’s easier in a way,” the Raszyn native was quoted as saying by “Fakt”.
