After two up-and-down seasons at Haas, Mick Schumacher had to settle for the role of third driver at Mercedes this year, having not found another place after his dismissal from the American team. The 21-year-old, interviewed by Sky Deutschland, declared that his goal is to return to the starting grid next season, also taking advantage of this year’s experience at Mercedes:
“The goal is to return to Formula 1 in 2024. The target of all of us drivers is to become world champion and this is mine too. Unfortunately, there is no place this season, but being a reserve driver at Mercedes is obviously also a step forward. In such a great team I can learn so much and I hope to take this experience with me for my future F1 career.”
Some think that, aside from his famous surname, Mick isn’t actually taking advantage of his chances to get back on track, being such a quiet and shy personality in public:
“Privacy was very important to my father and it is the same for me. Of course I share something here and there, like with my dog for example, but nothing more for now.”
