Iga Świątek’s excellent situation in the WTA ranking
This year’s Wimbledon ended quickly for Iga Świątek. The world’s best racket was eliminated from the competition in the third round after losing in three sets to Yulia Putintseva. The Polish player had to reckon with losing points in the ranking, because a year ago in London she was eliminated only in the quarterfinals.
As it turned out, however, the defeat will not do her any major harm in the WTA ranking . As the profile “From the court – tennis information” on the “X” platform calculated, the Polish tennis player cannot be threatened by two rivals behind her until the end of the US Open – Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka. No matter how the results would turn out until then, Świątek has not been overtaken by any of these players.
To be completely comfortable until the last Grand Slam of the year, the 23-year-old needed a defeat of Jelena Rybakina at Wimbledon before the final. And that condition was also met. The Kazakhstani was eliminated in the semifinals after losing to Barbora Krejcikova.
This in turn means that Świątek currently has a gigantic comfort in the WTA ranking. None of her rivals will be able to overtake her after the US Open, even assuming the worst possible scenario (impossible, actually), in which the Pole would lose all her matches until then. Jasmine Paolini, who is fifth in the ranking and will play in the Wimbledon final, also has no chance of dethroning the Raszyn player.
