Winner of six tournaments in 2013 and quarterfinalist this year at the Australian Open, Simona Halep offered the unpleasant surprise of the first Fed Cup duel. “The first set I played pretty well, I found myself on the court, and in the second set I played pretty well, aggressively, but she came back very strong, served very strong, moved well, gave me she hit a lot of winning shots, she was better than me today and I’m very sorry that I couldn’t score a point for Romania ,” Halep said after the match.
Halep admits she is not invincible. He hopes to contribute, however, to Romania’s successes at the Fed Cup . The next opponent is Great Britain, and the last match in the group will be played against Latvia.
