Former WTA leader Simona Halep declared, on Sunday, regarding the doping case of ATP leader Jannik Sinner, that the trial was not at all fair to her, reports News.ro.
“I have nothing to do with Sinner, with the player, I really think it may be a matter of contamination. I went through this and I know how hard and ugly it is, but the way of judging was not fair to me, nor to the other athletes who went through this hell. Two years ago, I think there were 3 or 4 athletes in the same situation. I hope that in the future it will be judged in the same way, because regardless of whether you are number 1 or number 200, you must be treated the same in this situation!
I was always very careful, I didn’t take anything without making sure it was good, correct, clean. It was a mistake, my team gave me these supplements, it was probably my responsibility to go to the lab. The box did not say that any substance contained in the supplement was prohibited. I really wish that no one would go through something like that, it was very ugly and very difficult emotionally, but I want to leave this behind”, said Simona Halep, according to gsp.ro
She stated that she wants to return to the field.
“I have my life ahead of me and I hope to return to the field, that’s where I want to be, I don’t know for how long, but I want to come back. I’m still recovering with my knee, but I’m planning to play a tour in Honk Kong at the end of October, I’d really like to. I miss it, I feel the lack of competition, I hope to be healthy and fit to play, that’s the plan”, added the athlete.
